Job: User Experience Design Manager @ Nike

As our User Experience Design Manager, you’ll develop, evangelize and
execute the vision for both consumer-facing experiences (online and
in-store) for Nike’s digital commerce-enabled sites. You’ll be
responsible for benchmarking, conceptualizing, innovating and
developing an overall Experience Map for your respective area. You’ll
work closely with internal functional groups, regional teams and
agencies to define next-generation consumer experiences. You’ll
provide the overall vision and strategic leadership to drive the
global Experience Roadmap; collaborate with the regional, functional
and affiliate business teams, and with key strategic agencies to
establish the direction for interface design on Nike digital
properties; develop a global roadmap for interface development that
supports emerging digital commerce capabilities; and provide support
for regional and global initiatives that require interface design.
You’ll collaborate with functional regional leads to establish project
goals and success metrics. You’ll also establish vision and guidelines
that establish Nike as an authentic sports brand online and organize
our online capabilities in an easy-to-use, intuitive way. You’ll
develop and apply new capabilities, future product concept integration
and connection/translation to non-digital consumer experiences and
executions, and lead third-party site collaborations and integration.
You’ll also ensure the seamless digital consumer experience in all
retail, event, studio and other physical executions of our digital
commerce sites. You’ll translate new ideas and concepts into relevant,
value-adding elements and stay up to speed on any significant digital
trends, and showcase the ability to adjust digital strategies and
executions accordingly. You’ll also be relied on to stay intimately
aware of key regional and seasonal initiatives, and provide enticing,
innovative consumer experiences in support of those. You’ll facilitate
regular and consistent site and consumer analysis to fuel future
experience design, and seek out industry benchmarking to ground Nike’s
current level of experience within and across industries so an
improvement plan can be designed and continuously monitored. You’ll
also manage agency relationships and specific projects. In addition,
you’ll establish leadership summits across our internal and external
partners to develop consensus and communicate Nike’s Experience
Roadmap across our digital commerce sites.

Requirements for the position include:

Bachelor’s degree
6-10 years’ experience in experience design or product management in
the software industry, preferably ASP or SAAS
Extensive experience in consumer eCommerce website development and in
experience design specific to digital
Strong understanding of Flash and Java
Ability to understand the complex agency processes used to develop
websites (strategy, conceptualizing, visual design, interaction design
and production)
Extensive experience working at senior levels to define target
experiences that map to consumer needs in a way that is brand
conscious and highly usable

Faculty from the College of Design at NCSU have graciously offered to give a collection of presentations next week at NCSU. They are interested in sharing their research and design ideas with the HFES community.
 
Time: Thursday, March 27, 5:30-8:00pm
Location: Kamphoefner Hall, College of Design complex, Burns Auditorium, NCSU
 
There will be a reception (with refreshments) in the lobby area of the Burns Auditorium from 5:30-6pm.
Professor Haig Khachatoorian will moderate this event. Presentations will begin at 6pm and will include the following:

Job: Interaction Designer Business Analyst

We are searching for an Interaction Designer to join the school solutions group for one of our clients.  Using traditional materials, online learning and multimedia tools our client empowers the growth of teachers, professionals and students of all ages. Their technical innovations are changing the way people learn. This individual will report to the Manager of Interaction Design and act as critical member of the 60 person IT Department in Columbus, OH.  The Technology team is responsible for the design, development, and support of all online software.    The Interaction Designer will have direct impact on increasing the sales of software, increase user engagement, decrease site abandonment, increase adoption at the school level, and create an increase in user satisfaction.

Essential Duties

  • Resolve product requirements and user data into software interface designs that feature elegance, simplicity, and ease of use
  • Perform necessary business analysis to provide complete product definition
  • Create and revise information architecture and interaction design documents, including: Site maps, concept diagrams, user personas or profiles, user scenarios, use cases & business rules, wireframes, flows, site inventory, template guidelines
  • Define the conceptual experience strategy, information architecture, user flows and interaction design for projects
  • Conduct user and domain research into user patterns, tasks and mental models with a focus on the relationship between people, products, and contexts
  • Research & recommend new techniques in user interface design
  • Initiate and nurture relationships with external customers and users for concept validation, focus groups, and usability testing
  • Some travel required (5-10%) 

Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of interaction design principles
  • Knowledge of user-centered design principles and web design best practices/web standards
  • Experience with designing, conducting, and evaluating usability tests is a plus
  • Thorough understanding of project management and application development lifecycles, including RUP and Agile
  • Experience with design & prototyping technologies including: Pencil & Paper, Visio / Illustrator / Photoshop, etc.
  • Background in visual design a plus
  • Knowledge/experience with CSS, JavaScript, and Flash ActionScript not required, but beneficial
  • Ability to make recommendations based on incomplete or highly evolving set of requirements
  • Innovative and creative thinking
  • Proven ability to visualize and simplify complex systems

Job: Senior User Experience Designer (UX Lead)

The Senior User Experience Designer (UX Lead) is responsible for leading the User Experience team, including Information Architects, Content Strategists and User Researchers, and working collaboratively with Creative, Technology and Client Services team members to create compelling, insight-driven web sites and applications. User Experience is one of the most crucial project roles at the company as it requires an ability both to lead the project team and the client through a user-centered design process to develop meaningful experience concepts, and to execute on those concepts. The UX Lead is an ideas person who can sell “the big idea” to the team and the client, but who also loves getting her or his hands dirty in the process. The UX Lead reports directly to the EVP, Digital Marketing.

Responsibilities:

· Taking a leadership role in developing the information architecture and content strategy of transactional, informational, and marketing websites, applications and interactive experiences.

· Understanding target audiences’ needs, tasks, and goals and translating them into creative concepts

· Working closely with clients to translate business requirements into meaningful interactive experiences

· Leading and/or participating in immersive user research, concept testing, and usability testing

· Developing user personas and scenarios to clarify results of user research and focus the team’s design efforts on the needs of key users

· Collaboratively developing prototypes for demonstration of concepts to clients

· Developing and documenting detailed user experience specifications for highly interactive interfaces

· Driving User Experience thought leadership in both the company and the industry

Qualifications:

· Be on the pulse of current and emerging trends

· Demonstrated ability to lead design of complex transactional interfaces, taxonomies and metadata frameworks, and templates for content management systems

· Demonstrated ability to develop big ideas, and execute flawlessly against them in a highly collaborative environment

· Demonstrated experience conducting user research and translating user research into design decisions

· Demonstrated experience using web analytics data to inform design decisions

· Demonstrated understanding of time management and correct use of resources

· Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills

· Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

· Experience in client services and negotiating business decisions

· Willingness to travel
