• Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of intangible variables
• Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results.
• Performs development of the presentation tier of the ChannelAdvisor systems while still maintaining a solid understanding of interactions with the business and data tiers.
• Has a flair for creating visually stimulating and feature rich web pages
• Has a good understanding of ChannelAdvisor business, products and clients and is passionate about their work.
• Self starter, willing to take on large challenges.
Essential Job Functions:
• Develop new systems using ChannelAdvisor company standards. Has design skills. Must be able to develop complex software solutions.
• Perform development of the presentation tier of the ChannelAdvisor systems, including any required “code behind” business logic to support that tier.
• Proactive in recommending updates and improvements to existing systems.
• Fix, improve and extend existing code bases.
• Proactively suggest areas of improvement, alternative solutions and designs, third party tools, etc. to solve the problems at hand.
• Frequently called upon to solve problems; has strong problem solving skills and the ability and desire to learn new technologies rapidly
• Strong written and verbal interpersonal skills. Works well in a team.
• Able to deal effectively with internal and external groups including clients and vendors
• Create polished, professional web based user interface code to run the ChannelAdvisor systems.
Job Specifications:
• Requires BS degree.
• Requires 5 or more years experience in software development specializing in the presentation tier.
• Required areas of expertise:
o .Net Technologies (C#/VB.Net, ASP.Net), Visual Studio .Net
o Strong domain expertise in ASP.Net OO programming techniques
o ASP, VBScript, VB, COM
o HTML, DHTML, ASP, CSS, Flash, Javascript
o Data access via ADO, ADO.Net. Working familiarity with MS SQL 2000 and T-SQL.
o Service Oriented Architecture, XML, SOAP, WSDL, XSLT
o Web development on the Windows Server platforms, IIS
o Understanding of browser compatibility limitations across all versions of IE, Netscape, Firefox, Opera, Mac, etc.
• Desirable areas of expertise:
o Programming and scripting languages such as C++, Perl, PHP
o Data Communications areas such as TCP/IP, DNS, FTP
o Database technologies such as SQL Server, Oracle, mySQL, DB2, SQL, ETL, Data Warehousing. Database architecture experience.
o Xpath, X.500/LDAP
o Tools such as UML, ER, Rational Rose
o Methodologies such as RUP
o Usability, Human Factors expertise.
• Strong understanding of modern software architecture and approaches including:
o OOP theory and practices
o Web Services
o Templates (ATL)
o Threading, concurrency
o Algorithms, sorting/taxonomies
o Caching
o High Availability/Reliability
• Strong understanding of modern software technology. Ongoing efforts to maintain skills and knowledge at the state of the art.
• Ability to do all levels of hands on work in software engineering.
• Proven ability to work independently or in a team environment
