Job: Web Designer

Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC has an immediate opening for a Web Designer in the Durham office.

 

Responsibilities:

This position’s primary responsibilities are to design/maintain the external BCBSNC Web sites currently implemented using .JSP/JAVA, Cold Fusion and XHTML technologies. Excellent Web design and project management skills are required for this position, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Primary job duties include:

· Maintain and update content on BCBSNC.com and other external corporate websites including PartnersHealth.com and Saegisbenefits.com.
· Participate in projects to design and implement new content and functionality for the website and/or redesign existing content sections.
· Work with project managers and application developers to design high quality user-centric Web interfaces that meet business objectives as well as usability and corporate standards.
· Provide expertise for department and company on Web technologies, strategies and design standards.
· Participate in regular content and functionality pushes to the web, including testing and validation, troubleshooting any issues, and following the change management processes

 
Requirements:

· BA/BS
· Minimum 2 – 4 years experience (5 years preferred) as a web designer working on complex and successful corporate Web sites
· Minimum 2- 4 years experience (5 years preferred) coding user interfaces for Web applications and Web pages using XHTML, JavaScript, DHTML, XML, CSS2, cookies, session variables and related client side technologies
· Minimum 2 years experience designing dynamically displayed Web content using JSP and/or Cold Fusion in a complex corporate website environment with multiple integrated backend applications.
· Fluent in code-based web editing applications and graphical tools including Adobe Creative Suite and Macromedia Studio
· Demonstrated understanding of current XHTML / W3C standards and best practices and expertise in cross-browser and JavaScript compatibility.
· Strong conceptual thinker with experience taking written functional/business requirements and wire frames and visualizing how to translate those requirements to the Web with attention to detail for the design and user experience.
· Experience working as part of a software development cycle including interfacing and coordinating work in the development, testing, and production environments.
· Demonstrated understanding of Web site interoperability, architecture, data flow, user interfaces, and intuitive navigation schemes
· Experience with version management systems (PVCS preferred)
· Experience working in both Windows and UNIX web environments. IBM Websphere experience a definite plus
· Some night and weekend hours are required during web deployments.

Interaction Designer with Sony Ericsson

SUMMARY:
The Interaction Designer is responsible for designing the User Interface for applications. This role is part of the global User Interface Design organization, which is the driving force behind the user experience in the SonyEricsson products.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
*Gather and analyze design requirements from internal, operator and end-user customers
*Create the conceptual design, in close cooperation with Systems, Software, Application Planning and other stakeholders
*Involve the user in the design work,
*Prototype interaction design concepts that meet the requirements and follows the global design guidelines.
*Design the flow, look, feel and behavior of applications, as well as needed UI elements
*Review and evaluate designs, and perform usability testing
*Address issues of the design, including technical complexities and dependencies
*Document and communicate designs internally and externally (AUI light – an overview of all major functionality, including screen shots and flows)
*Approve the detailed AUI specifications
*Identify UI requirements, in particular as related to NAM market
*Support Interaction Designers at other sites on NAM-related design issues, including fact finding, usability testing and user involvement

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
*Must have genuine interest in consumer products and technology
*BS in interaction design, multimedia engineering with focus on interaction design, or equivalent
*Excellent knowledge of user involvement tools and methods
*Graphic design and desktop publishing
*Two or more experience in relevant fields
*Good problem setting and solving skills, creativity, innovative abilities
*Ability to work as part of a global team
*Must be quality driven and efficiency conscious, and have the ability to make quick decisions
*Strong communication skills in English (both written and oral)
*Good coordination, organization, and reporting skills
*Good computer skills, such as MS Office
*Some travel is involved to NAM and Europe (2-6 times per year)
