<p>The Healthcare &amp; Science business of Thomson Reuters provides intelligent information to better manage the cost and quality of healthcare and accelerate scientific research and innovation.</p>
<p>Lead user experience architect to significantly contribute to the ideation and creation of highly usable and useful healthcare applications.  These web-based solutions serve the hospital and payer markets and involve clinical workflow, search/information display, reporting, visual information display, analytics, and complex user interaction and include mobile (Palm, Windows, Blackberry, iPhone, and Android) platforms.  The UX engineer must apply appropriate methodologies and techniques in user research, information architecture, interaction design, visual information design, and prototyping to produce usable and effective products.  This associate advocates and represents the customer in business strategy, conceptualization, and development phases of a project.  He/she collects and interprets complex customer and user research findings and designs effective and elegant user experiences.  He/she also influences the product development process to effectively integrate user-centered design.</p>
<p>The lead user experience architect develops a deep understanding of customers&#8217; business and individual needs by planning and executing user and ethnographic research activities including contextual inquiries, interviews, focus groups, heuristic reviews, surveys, etc.  Develops conceptual models and user personas.  Work with customers and other subject matter experts to identify and validate business requirements and translate those into highly useful and usable designs.  Work with developers, product managers, business analysts, and QA, to create visually appealing, highly usable, and intuitive web interfaces in an Agile environment.    Communicate your ideas using prototypes, wireframes, and interactive mockups.  Define and document user interface design specifications that include system process flows and business logic resulting from user interactions.  Articulate the pros and cons of designs and support choices with clear, detailed evidence and rationale for decisions.  Champion user needs while understanding the balance of user experience, business case, technical constraints, and time-to-release, and make tradeoffs when appropriate.  Conduct usability testing and validation.</p>
<p>Some travel is required (10%) to visit customer sites, tradeshow / conferences, and development teams.</p>
<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Master&#8217;s degree in Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Usability Engineering or related field.</li>
<li>10 years related experience in a mature software development organization.</li>
<li>Thorough knowledge and significant experience with user-centered design practices.</li>
<li> Expertise in user research methodologies, application of visual information design techniques, and an understanding of 508 and I18N requirements.</li>
<li>Experience with prototyping tools (e.g., Visio, Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, HTML, CSS).</li>
<li>Understanding of the technical possibilities and limitations of HTML, CSS, Ajax, JavaScript, and Flash.</li>
<li>Appreciation and commitment to incorporate high level of visual design.</li>
<li>Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.</li>
<li>Excellent communication and presentation skills, and ability to consistently deliver on schedule.</li>
<li>Ability to work independently, work on multiple projects at once, and handle shifting priorities.</li>
<li>Self-starter with strong project management skills.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Desirable</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience with Agile software development practices.</li>
<li>Healthcare domain experience (clinical workflow, hospital management/operations, and/or health plan analytical applications).</li>
<li>Mobile user interface design experience.</li>
<li>Formal visual design training.</li>
<li>CPHF/CPE a plus.</li>

He or she will work with product managers, project managers, marketers, web developers, rail industry experts, and end users to produce novel solutions to rail industry needs.</p>
<p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>User Requirements Gathering and Analysis:</strong> Understanding customers&#8217; stated and unstated needs by performing interviews, task analysis, needs analysis, and voice of the customer.</li>
<li><strong>Information Architecture:</strong> Designing information spaces to achieve an intuitive structure. The Information Architecture fuses the interaction design with the interface design to create a complete blueprint of the web site.</li>
<li><strong>Interaction Design:</strong> Developing workflows and paths that describe user tasks and define how the user interacts with the web site&#8217;s and functional application&#8217;s features.</li>
<li><strong>Usability Testing:</strong> Conducting usability testing, analyzing the results, and creating an actionable recommendations report.</li>
<li><strong>Functional Prototyping:</strong> Developing prototypes for demonstrating concepts and gathering feedback from business partners, customers, and end users via usability testing.</li>
<li><strong>Interface Design: </strong>Designing wireframes with excellent layout and typography. Experience with storyboarding. Knowledge of graphics design preferred.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Project Leadership:</strong> The UXD will be a driver on their projects, acting as a bridge between business and development. Experience with agile methodology preferred.</li>
<li><strong>Creativity:</strong> The UXD will have experience in new product development for web enabled applications. Can facilitate ideation and brainstorming sessions.</li>
<li><strong>Communication:</strong> We are looking for someone who can describe their process to team members and explain UCD and NPD.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor&#8217;s degree in human factors, HCI, information design, cognitive psychology, or related fields</li>
<li>Minimum 3 years experience.</li>
<li>Thorough knowledge of User-Centered Design methodology. New product development a plus.</li>
<li>Thorough understanding of web strategy, design, technology and traditional application development processes and practices. Graphics design is a plus.</li>
<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li>
<li>Working knowledge of Photoshop, Flash, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, or basic Web development tools such as Macromedia Dreamweaver for UI prototyping. Flex is a plus.</li>

Our User Experience Designers (UXD&#8217;s) are the primary advocate for the  end user during the Web development process. They work collaboratively  with the entire team to produce experiences that best meet the end  user&#8217;s goals. They will work most closely with the web strategists,  developers, designers, producers, and end users to ensure project  successes. Our UXD&#8217;s are impeccable thinkers, writers and presenters.</p>
<p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<p>• 	<strong>User Requirements Gathering and Analysis: </strong>Developing goals of  the Web product through user research, persona development, scenario  building and use cases. Conducting contextual inquiry (in person  observation &amp; interviews) with target users to understand their  mental models and behaviors.</p>
<p>•<strong> Business Requirements Gathering and Analysis: </strong>Developing  requirements documentation related to how the proposed Web site will  expand market opportunity, revenue and user retention. Analyzing  information gained during user research and also conducting heuristic  and competitive analyses.</p>
<p>•	<strong>Information Architecture:</strong> Designing information space to  achieve an intuitive structure. The Information Architecture fuses the  interaction design with the interface design to create a complete  blueprint of the Web site.</p>
<p>•	<strong>Interaction Design:</strong> Developing flow and path models that  describe user tasks and define how the user interacts with the Web  site&#8217;s features.</p>
<p>•	<strong>Interface Design:</strong> Designing wireframes to identify all  elements users can interact with.</p>
<p>•	<strong>Usability Testing:</strong> Conducting usability testing,  analyzing the results and creating a recommendations report.</p>
<p>•	<strong>Functional Prototyping:</strong> Developing prototypes as  necessary to support the user design specifications.</p>
<p><strong>Qualities  we are looking for:</strong></p>
<p>•	<strong>Creativity &amp; Analytical Skills:</strong> Experience will  guide this person. They know the rules and how to break them elegantly.  They are up to date on what this industry is doing and they participate  in its thought leadership.</p>
<p>•	<strong>Communication/Attitude:</strong> We are looking for someone who  is a great communicator, with both internal team members and clients.  They have to describe complex processes to people who&#8217;ve never thought  about their projects with such detail.</p>
<p>•	<strong>Presentation Skills/Independence:</strong> We are looking for a  candidate who can present their ideas clearly to clients during  presentations. We are also interested in someone that can self-direct  under multiple deadlines.</p>
<p>•	<strong>Writing / Proposals:</strong> Candidate must have strong writing  skills and be able to properly communicate through their writing when  working on proposals and reports.</p>
<p><strong> Requirements:</strong></p>
<p>• 3-5 years experience.</p>
<p>•	A demonstrated understanding of User-Centered Design  methodology</p>
<p>•	Thorough understanding of web strategy, design, technology and  traditional application development processes and practices.</p>
<p>•	Excellent written and verbal communication skills</p>
<p>•	Expert proficiency with MS Visio</p>
<p>•	Working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, CSS, or basic Web  development tools such as Macromedia Dreamweaver for simple prototyping.</p>

<p>We seek individuals experienced in the user-centered design process with a strong background in software design and usability. </p>
<p>Job duties include working closely with HumanCentric and client teams by:<br />
Providing expertise and support to development teams during creation of user interfaces.<br />
Rapidly, iteratively, and flexibly creating:<br />
o Flow charts of task flows or information architecture<br />
o Design schematics<br />
o Wireframes of designs<br />
o Paper and Interactive prototypes<br />
o User Interface Specifications<br />
o Usability test protocols and moderation<br />
Driving usability evaluation efforts, when applicable, with the goal of analyzing and translating usability evaluation outcomes into design improvements.<br />
Understanding product requirements and user&#8217;s goals and objectives.<br />
Conceptualizing and creating user interface specifications that meet the product requirements of both clients and the clients&#8217; customers. Products must meet user, technical, and creative expectations.</p>

<p>Responsible for creating and managing interactive design elements, page level layout, task fulfillment and consistent visual treatment of web sites, email campaigns and web applications.  Participate in concept development of design solutions and provide input in how the visual interface should be designed.  Ensure that the application of visual assets and realization of information design efforts support the users’ needs and align with the design and brand strategy.</p>
<p><strong>Major Job Functions/Components</strong></p>
<ul>
<li> Create innovative designs for web sites, email campaigns, web applications and other digital platforms across the enterprise.</li>
<li>Works as an integral member of project teams with user experience designers, content strategists, usability analysts and other visual design team members.</li>
<li>Produces multiple design concepts that engage with users and fulfill project goals and requirements.</li>
<li>Works closely with team members on the creation, design and implementation of approved projects.</li>
<li>Identifies interaction and visual user interface requirements and develops design approach.</li>
<li>Produces multiple concepts that engage users and fulfill project goals and requirements.</li>
<li>Develops design prototypes, story boards and written visual user interface specifications.</li>
<li>Collaborates and shares expertise with our creative studio, user experience designers, content strategists, developers and other team members.</li>
<li>Ensures consistency with BCBSNC brand guidelines and adheres to visual guidelines, CSS standards, UI library components and defined design language for the Web.</li>
<li>Works with information designers and developers to integrate visual and interaction design artifacts into functional prototypes or production ready pages.</li>
